Hosted and narrated by Carla Laemmle, the niece of studio founder Carl Laemmle who spoke the first words of dialogue in the 1931 horror classic,THE ROAD TO DRACULA tracks the vampire king from novel to stage to screen with film clips from the 1931 Bela Lugosi film, Universal's 1979 remake with Frank Langella, and interviews with Bela Lugosi, Jr., Dracula scholars Nina Auerbach, Michael Barsanti, Bob Madison, Lokke Heiss, actress Lupita Tovar, and horror writer/filmmaker Clive Barker. DVD includes not only the original Lugosi film, but also the simultaneously-produced Spanish-language film, the newly-commissioned musical score by Philip Glass, and the full Universal features DRACULA'S DAUGHTER (1936), SON OF DRACULA (1943),and HOUSE of DRACULA (1945).
